Project: Development of content for a Behavioural Health Care GP Education Module, ABC of Dealing with Difficult Consultations in General Practice – Training module, in collaboration with RhED Consulting Pty Ltd

Project Aim:

To provide a training module to improve general practitioners’ communication and counselling skills to enable them to better manage difficult patient consultations in general practice.

Requirements of the project:

• The module adopted a psychological approach focusing on both patient and doctor factors as well as systems issues

• Adult learning principles especially interactive participatory learning formed the framework for the package

• The package also included a GP workbook, facilitators manual, and overall module framework including options for delivery mode

• The module was designed to meet the requirements of both ACRRM and RACGP
