Investigation of options to increase the capacity and sustainability of the Central West Qld Rural Division of General Practice, and recommend effective structures to achieve the goals of the Division and to meet the requirements of the Commonwealth Dept of Health and Aged Care

Timeline: June 2001 to end May 2002.

Brief description:

• SWOT analysis of CWQRDGP

• Interview GPs and other key stakeholders to identify preferred options for Divisional restructure

• Prepare options paper for the CWQRDGP membership

• Determine preferred options by membership and develop strategies to achieve this, ensuring that strategies will deliver increased capacity and sustainability

• Reach consensus on preferred structure

• Prepare Strategic and Business Plans to reflect changed structure and activities

Outcome:

Review of organizational structure completed February 2002, with view to strategic alliance with neighbouring Division, with possibility of amalgamation in 2003. Strategic and business plans prepared for 2002-2003 reflecting move to amalgamation.
