The Murdi Paaki Region was identified as the NSW Council of Australian Governments (COAG) trial site. The purpose of the COAG trials is to challenge and change the way people think and respond to Indigenous disadvantage, and to develop strategic partnerships that change the way governments do business with Aboriginal communities. The Murdi Paaki Health Project was initiated to progress the NSW and Australian Governments’ response to the health related priorities identified in the 16 Community Working Party Action Plans developed as part of the Council of Australian Governments (COAG) Trial. Since August 2006, Kristine Battye Consulting has been engaged on a number of projects that seek to provide more flexible programs and services to Indigenous communities to better meet need and improve health service delivery outcomes.
