Project: Development of an integrated regional health plan for the Centre for Remote Health, Broken Hill

Project Aim:

The Centre for Remote Health is a new formal collaboration between five key health organisations: The Greater Western Area Health Service; Maari Ma Health Aboriginal Corporation; Royal Flying Doctor Service (South Eastern Section); Broken Hill University Dept of Rural Health and Barrier Division of General Practice.

The purpose of the project was to develop an integrated regional health plan incorporating strategies to respond to regional health and service needs across remote far west of NSW.

Requirements of the project:

• Analysis of issues impacting on effective service provision and identification of gaps in health services, validated and informed by community and service consultations

• Identification of areas for service re-design and opportunities for workforce development to develop innovative service models, to be implemented by the organisations participating in the collaboration in Far West NSW.

• Identification and development of partnerships with other health and community organisations to ensure a coordinated approach and linkages between service providers

• Recommendations to progress the model
