Project Aim:
The purpose of the study was to review and assess the health service
model and associated infrastructure to inform capital works.
This project
was undertaken as a collaboration between Kristine Battye Consulting
and GHD, Darwin.
Requirements of the project:

Description and review of service delivery model and resources
across the Katherine West Health Board area, including consideration
of: recruitment & retention of skilled workforce; effective information
management systems and capacity; adequate clinical infrastructure
to support service provision to remote Aboriginal communities

Assessment
of functionality of facilities in 8 health centres and of health staff
housing

Identification of infrastructure needs and changes
required to support current and future service provision

Identification
of barriers towards achieving a sustainable health service delivery
and recommendations on facility requirements and on the service delivery
model

Assessment of adequacy of established positions and recommendations
to achieve organisational recruitment and retention of skilled health
professional staff

Preparation of priority plan for staged roll
out of recommendations to increase clinical capacity, staff retention
and workforce development.
